The Italian Job

This grand 1930’s home, which originally served as the Italian Country club, had been converted into a private residence many years prior to our client’s purchasing it.  The homeowners, a young jet setting couple with small kids, asked us to create a home featuring both sophisticated public spaces suitable for grand entertaining and durable livable spaces for the private areas of the home that would be used for everyday living. The re-design and renovation was broken up into several stages over a 5-year period. A judicious design program was implemented with an aim at retaining the home’s stately architecture and grandeur while introducing modern day comforts.  The resulting spaces feel balanced and considered, combining the best of the old with functionality afforded by newer, more modern preferences reflecting the informality by which we live today.
