Modernized Historic
Landmark

Built at the turn of the century, this Queen Anne Victorian had great bones and a lot of potential but was otherwise dark, drab and outdated when we were approached by the homeowners about transforming it.

We were directed to create an urban “upper east side” aesthetic but infused with a modern sensibility.  In an effort to create a modern palette, the walls and ceilings were painted stark white and the existing hardwood floors stained in dark espresso to better show off the owners’ extensive contemporary art collection.

Elegant modern furnishings in neutral tones were selected to visually emphasize the vibrant colors that predominated much of the client’s collection of mixed-media paintings.  The resulting spaces are a case study in modern elegance and comfort perfect for twenty-first century living.
