Hays Town
Makeover

The architecture of this home, inspired by the legendary Louisiana architect, A. Hays Town, was originally dark and rustic.  Reddish-brown brick floors, antique wooden beamed ceilings and ultra traditional furnishings upholstered in Chintz were no longer in keeping with the client’s evolved taste.

The homeowners, who had recently become empty nesters, had resided in the home some 20 years before reaching out to Ty Larkins Interiors to come up with a design plan to transform the spaces into a modern home with clean lines.

A 12-month renovation ensued, whereby existing brick floors were painted white, beams white washed and European style modern cabinetry installed in the kitchens and bathrooms.

Arguably, the piece de resistance of the home is a newly designed bank of steel casement doors in the living room leading out to the backyard.  Elegant modern furnishings in the French ’40s style complete the look this transformed work of art.
