Bespoke Bocage

Set amongst the lush and green neighborhood of Old Bocage stands a newly constructed “Charleston style” home. Our clients who had recently become empty nesters set out to start the journey of creating their forever home, giving great regard to every aspect of design including landscape, architecture and décor.

The architecture, traditional in nature with grand and symmetrical proportions, was inspired by downtown Charleston. These historic homes typically invite guests into a formal entry, accessible through a private courtyard, which is visible from the side when strolling down the cobblestone streets. This modern re-interpretation composed of a richly detailed foundation and provided the basis for our design scheme.

Starting fresh, we were charged with selecting all the decorative light fixtures, flooring, wall coverings, window treatments, upholstery, rugs, and cased pieces. Throughout the home, we subtly referenced the past with our judicious introduction of antiques which were contrasted by contemporary and vintage finds, modern artwork and a fresh monochromatic color scheme.  The resulting spaces feel unexpected and layered as we embraced the nods of tradition and classicism with the juxtaposition of modern elements.  We created a home for our clients that is comfortable and livable, yet balanced with a certain degree of elegance, style and worldly sophistication.
