"Hays Town" Makeover
The architecture of this home, inspired by the legendary Louisiana architect, A. Hays Town, was originally dark and rustic. Brick floors, wood beamed ceilings, and furnishings upholstered in Chintz were no longer in keeping with the clients' evolved taste.
The couple, who had resided in the residence some 20 years before approaching Ty Larkins Interiors, asked the firm to come up with a solution to modernize the home.
A 12-month renovation ensued, whereby existing brick floors were painted white, beams white washed and new clean-lined modern cabinetry installed in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Arguably, the piece de resistance of the home is a newly designed bank of steel casement doors in the living room leading out to the backyard. Elegant modern furnishings in the French '40s style complete the look of this transformed work of art.
